I was running out of room in the corners of my bedroom to sit my muzzleloaders, so I decided to make a display rack to sit on top of my gun cabinet (the longrifles are too long to fit inside). I made the rack out of figured oak and fumed it with ammonia. I plan on putting on more coats of finish and putting felt pads in the notches where the guns sit. It was a fun project.

Very nice! :)
The figured Oak is really pretty, don't see that too often.

Nice looking flinter too!

 That's a dang good idea! :hatsoff:
I'm filin' that one in the future projects to do bin.

Very nice. Are those going to be free-standing?

Yes, I plan on setting it on top of my gun cabinet. I'll have to see how stable it is with just the one dowel connecting the two end pieces. If necessary, I'll add a foot extension to each of the end pieces to stabilize it. My preliminary testing looks like it is going to be pretty stable as is.

Just a thought...put a piece of that adhesive backed peel and stick velcro on the base and the mate on the gun cabinet top...no tipping, yet removable if needed...
