All of the seminars and displays at Dixon's are free. They do charge a little for parking, but it ain't much, and of course, all the gottahaves for sale are offered at a price, but you don't gottahave all that much if the budget won't allow.

170 nmile round trip? Crimeny, its over 1800 miles round trip for me. If I lived that close, I would practically live at Dixon's.

I'm making the 650 mile round trip to the CLA show next month, and I 'm happy that it isn't farther.

170 miles? 170 miles? Why I would almost give up the wife to live that close to Dixon's. However, if I gave up th wife, she would make damn sure I couldn't afford to live there. :surrender:

I'll be there Saturday after 11:00.Look for the black Suzuki GS450 parked with the bikes and a guy wearing a bright yellow shirt.

Just got back a couple of hours ago. As usual a great time and stocked up and helped the economy.

I'm heading there in about 45 minutes & I'll be there about 11:00-11:30 too. Look for a guy pulling in on a black Harley, who doesn't have any hair on top of his head, but lots of hair on his chin. :haha:
Wife will be riding along on her blue Harley too.

I sure wish that I had a lot more money to spend there! :(

I went yesterday and saw a lot of neat stuff.

I'll have to head back to Dixon's Shop soon.

Went there Friday and stocked up on flints and saw a beautiful 62 caliber flintlock rifle in the white at Tip Curtis tent. Beautiful piece of curly maple, sliding wooden patch box and swamped 42 inch Colerain barrel. Went back Saturday and bought that rifle. It fits me perfectly.

Tip is a fine gentleman and has some beautiful stuff that is reasonably priced. You can get a finished flintlock rifle with a swamped barrel for the price of one of Jim Chamber's kits.

Roger that.
He pulled an iron mounted 44", .54 Bucks smooth rifle [Colerain/Siler, in-the-white] out of the trailer, which left me talking to myself for the rest of the day.
....guess I'm still talkin to myself

Bought a .54 Lehigh smooth bore kit from him on Friday, about noon, a winter project for me.

Just got back from the fair n enjoyed myself again as every year. Worked all three days of the event and met several of the guys from here on the board. Oh to be rich n be able to buy what ever I wanted. Allen Matin was set up right next to us n he makes some gourgous guns. Kettenberg, day, n all the rest , all the super fine scrimed horns, the bags etc all I can do is drool like Niagra falls hee hee. had a blast seeing old friends n meeting new, sorry I'm lousey with names but all of ya that stopped by n said hello < mY many thanks, it sure was nice meeting ya all n being able to place a face n name together, I'd be willing ta ride the high n uncut with any of ya. take care until we meet again next year YMHS Birdman

I, too, attended Dixon"s for the first time, even though it meant a 6 1/2 hour drive and two nights stay. This has to be the premier event for the ML longrifle builder! The opportunity to mingle, firsthand with so many of today's builders, suppliers, horners and craftsmen is an incredible experience! I arrived Friday at noontime and was quickly able to fill my first need: a swamped .50 cal barrel from Getz, in uncommon 45 in length, right from his table! By 5 PM, he had only a handful of barrels left for Saturday morning. As well, the availability to find every needed part for my future project, without the added costs of tax, shipping and handling add-ons really helped the olde purse. Chances to closely observe, touch (ney, fondle!)and talk with the builder of exquisite examples of their exquisite work was something to treasure. The added displays of the horner's skills and associated accouterments really complimented the longrifle aspect of the weekend. Add to this the breadth of builder and craftsman presented lectures and on scene demonstrations throughout the weekend really put the icing on the whole experience for me. And, this year, the weather, everyone agreed, cooperated until Sunday at noon, when storminess moved in. This has to be a must do for every ML builder, along with visiting Friendship! I can only hope the near future allows me more chances to do it again! mjw

-----anyone happen to pick up the name and address of an elderly gentleman that was in a tent just up from the road that had several rifles for sale that he said he inherited--should of gotten this info but didn't----- had stock wood propped all around the table -----

I didn't have time to get around much while there so didn't see the feller yer talking about but if ya give Chuck or Greg Dixon a call at the shop Thursday(they are closed Wednesdays) he should be able to tell ya exactly who it was and most likely any contact info you would need.

:surrender: How's this for a trip to Dixon's. Have someone that wants to start in black powder, but does not know what he wants as rifle. He goes with me to the gun fair and see's a lot, but still does not know what he wants. He buys five raffle tickets for the rifle. On Monday gets a phone call from Dixon's that he is the lucky person to win you know what. What a way to start! Oh well. Thanks to Dixon's for the rifle so someone new can be part of the fun !!!

-----I guess it's safe to tear my stubs up----- CONGRATULATIONS--pictures and let us know when he fires it up-----
