Do those spinning Jags really work?

Thinking about buying a couple of those spinning jags so I don't loose any at a Rondy / Camporee next weekend. I'll be running the Sharpshooter station and using my 2 .50 cal. trade rifles & range rods. Do any of you folks have any experience with them, are they worth the money /trouble, etc.

I just got a couple of them. I haven't used them yet but they are very well made. I can't see why they wouldn't work as advertised. If you had a lathe you could make your own pretty easy.

What is a spinning jag? I have only been doing this for 32 years, and have never heard the term.

My problem is that the jag starts to unwind as I push it down the muzzle, so starting it even looser could be a bigger problem :hmm: .

I have a couple of barrels with left hand twist like that and they drive me crazy constantly unscrewing the jag...the spinning jag would put an end to that...I've only seen them in TC's catalog...wonder how robust they are

I have a couple of very well made range rods from J.W. Dewey that allow the entire rod to swivel. Works great.

My Lyman trade rifles both have the ability to unscrew my jag...every two or three shots I'm always re-winding the thing so that it won't fall off the rod. Thinking about picking one up but I did look at them once before and they looked cheap enough to break maybe. That's why I did the post...to see if anybody else on the Forum actually has one that they like using.

I'll be going to Dixon's and Cabella's on monday. Any thoughts are welcome and thanks in advance.

Wouldn't hurt to buy one and try it...judging from the photos and the $15 price they should be fairly substantial...I might try one for the .45cals which have left handed threads.

My problem then would be, since I like everything the same on all calibers, I'd want a half dozen...with shipping that's $100 bucks !

I purchased a[url] spinjag...in[/url] November I think. Can't say that it alone increased my accuracy (been shooting a new rifle since August), but I have done well in the last three monthly club shoots. Technically, the jag works as claimed. Based on principle, since it works as claimed, and ball deformity is a possibility with 'certain' different jags (several shooters in the club have proven that with testing they do), it stands to reason that the ball should be less deformed.

Either way, I like mine, as my Lyman had a tendancy to loosen the darned jag before, now it doesn't. No more jags coming off in the barrel!
