I’ve used nothing but Graf and sons house brand for 10 years or so. It’s was Schuetzen until for what ever reason they switched to Goex. I didn’t notice until I read the fine print.
But … I primarily shoot percussion revolvers so performance may differ in long guns.
I suspect or hope Grafs will switch back to Schuetzen, I have no use or desire to use Swiss or subs

110% AGREE.
I used 3F Swiss for 1.5 days in Pennsylvania back in October...at least 100 shots. No swabbing needed.
The next afternoon, I had to switch to Schuetzen only because I brought 1 extra pound of 3F Swiss and ran out! Won't do that when I go back next year. I'm taking several extra pounds.
Schuetzen Energetics is the best and you're right, they believe in supporting youth shoots and some club shoots all around the country. I totally support their products and LOVE using them.
I didn't know this about Schuetzen. Thanks for the information. I totally support anything that benefits youth. I'm getting older now, and have around 40 lbs. left of Goex, but mostly Swiss. If I'm still around, I may buy some Scheutzen! (Reserving Swiss 4fg for the pan)! God bless!

ANYONE running a youth program is going to have a substantial amount of donations to make it work. The economics are that if you have to charge what you're putting into it, no kids are going to be signed up by their parents. That leads to fewer black powder shooters later in life and black powder/muzzleloading dying even further. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?? Those of us engaged in instruction with youth have already invested literally days to get certified and paid for the courses, course materials, and travel expenses out of our pockets. The muzzleloading instructor cert requires Basic Muzzleloading (1 day) Basic Instructor (1+day) and Muzzleloading Instructor (1+days). Running time for the course work ALONE is like 4 days and then there's a shooting component and you're going to pay for that out of pocket. Past that, we instructors often donate targeting materials, lead, and other materials to make it a safe, fun and educational experience for the kids. Our time on the range working with the kids is DONATED BY US. We don't get paid. So anybody who is kind enough, cares enough to see kids have a safe, positive experience with black powder on the range, darn right I'm asking for donations and Schuetzen is putting their money/inventory where their mouth is and backing youth shooting sports. Can't say that for Goex and others.

I can look around and see the decline in black powder and muzzleloading and am doing something about it with Schuetzen's and others help.

Has anyone used Scheutzen reenactor powder for regular match shooting? I am a bit curious about the difference in that grade vs regular 2 or 3f. I will have to say that I did get spoiled by the much cleaner Swiss 3f...

In my experience, powder labeled for reenacting is pretty much useless for live and competition shooting. Some may be satisfied with mediocre accuracy ..., There are much better choices. All a reenactor wants is his musket to go bang as cheaply as possible since it's pretty much just a complicated noise maker.

I have used Scheutzen fffg and have not noticed much difference in 3f Goex. I think it could be a little dirtier but not so sure as the last few cans of Goex were dirtier than the earlier stuff I had been shooting. I guess I should have recorded lots #'s over the last thirty years or so, but I didn't, so now I am just guessing. Has anyone used Scheutzen reenactor powder for regular match shooting? The reenactor powder is for participating in events where blanks (only) are used. It's cheaper, so who cares as long as it goes bang?

Since you gave a snarky reply I'm going to drop the gloves.

Call me a beggar if you want. At least I can look around and see the decline in black powder and muzzleloading and am doing something about it with Schuetzen's and others help. You and others like you with your attitude are the problem with muzzleloading's decline and by extension youth in general.
Thank you for your work in getting our youth involved in our sport . You are to be commended sir !

Have donated my time to help many new and struggling muzzleloading shooters. A few match champions among them. I donate. I give. Because It`s my choice. I do not beg for "support"(others peoples $$$) or ever expect others to do the same. Goex co. has been a company we could count on for fine products at a reasonable price for many years. Happy to hear their policy of not pandering to beggars. I prefer to chose to who I donate, not pay a jacked up price due to their donation policy thus limiting my freedom to chose...

I prefer to chose to who I donate
Sort of like Goex and Scheutzen had a choice? One chose to support a program and one didn't. I've never heard of someone in the shooting sports being angry that a company suppoted a youth program.
Also, I'm not a scholar or anything, but what in the previous passage made you see "begging?" Is asking to "pass the salt" begging? Is informing people/businesses, for example, that a Boy Scout troop is starting a shooting program and would appreciate help and donations begging? Where is that line?

Thanks. I was just curious if it had any redeeming qualities as an emergency powder source, say in a flinter, if someone couldn't find anything else. Personally, we go through cases of the stuff in our three-inch ordnance rifle as blanks. For regular rifle shooting I've been using Swiss and couldn't be happier. Here we are making noise with Scheutzen reenactor powder.

Not angry about any company donations. Just don`t think you have to trash a company who decides not to donate. My use of a common word is confusing?
By definition: "begging"
ask for something, typically food or money, as charity or a gift.
"a young woman was begging in the street"

Schutzen and Swiss may be all we can get for black powder for a while.
It will be a long while before seeing any Goex...if at all.
If Goex does sell & someone else picks up the brand, it will cost millions to start up production again. That is for a hobby that has less and less demand for their product. If Goex saw a profit in selling Goex, they would have rebuilt the plant last year and started production again.

I don't see that happening at all.

"Dave951" told all I need to know--if Goex would not help the youth programs-
they can stick it. I will try Scheutzen again after hearing they help our young
folks learn the sport. I noticed Mike (duelist youtube) left Goex for Swiss.
Maybe Karma got Goex--and that is why it's in flux.
Goex is owned by Hodgdon , who makes and or distribute many gun powders. Perhaps one should check to see if they support youth programs pertaining to other shooting forms. I don’t know this myself just throwing it out there.

Personally i did not "beg", I asked them to support our effort in what we donate annually to teach youth to shoot bp out of our personal pockets. I did not ask for 6,000 roundball or 50 pounds of powder that we consume annually. I asked for a donation of anything and a banner. They did not have the courtesy of a reply. Sure they gets lots of requests. And one has stepped up to help. Thank you schutzen. I support schutzen.

And i will add, we will continue to support our youth progam out of our pocket as well.
