I bought mine from a friend’s pawn shop in ‘81 or so for $30. Came in a tiny presentation case about the size of a paperback. Neat little turned wooden container with balls and patches. Marked RICHLAND ARMS CO., code dates it to 1979.View attachment 164757
is it a screw barrel and what is the wooden GIZZY thing for? just courious? it is a beauty!
 
I have an original English made from the mid-19th century, it's a .45 cal.

I bought a Palmetto. 41 Lafayette flintlock pistol at DGW this past summer. Cute, needs a main spring
 
The frizzen-looking thing is a cap protector/hold-down. It used tophat caps that were held in place so they wouldn't fall off when placed in a boot, pocket, or muff. It's spring-loaded and when the cap goes off it rotates forward for cap removal.
