Ohio, I can't quite picture excatly what your describing for the life of me right now LOL :haha: That's good you were able to drill out w/o removing your breech! Good deal and encouraging!

So what missfire problems were you having? Did this solve your problem 100%? The missfires I had should not have happened, but I always feel that way. I feel I did my part and pan always ignited. There is definitely a little hang time when it goes boom.
What I tried to discribe was how I made an end cutting piloted reamer with a 42 inch length to drill out the powder chamber without removing the breech plug. If you want more detailed information send me a p.m.

OK, Gotcha! For some reason I was envisioning a 90* angle being drilled through the touch hole and enlargening the channel somehow???!!! Oops! Now I gothca, makes much more sense now running straight down the barell. I'll shoot ya a PM after a few more failed shooting sessions and if I continue with problems. Thank you for the information!!! :hatsoff:

Not all pedersoli breech plugs are the same!
Here is a picture of a FLINTLOCK Blueridge that I cut away to show.

The channel between the vent and the barrel is only about .175 inch in diameter.

I've fixed several Flintlock blueridge rifles by enlarging the channel!

I am a little slow so please explain what your photo shows. Are you saying the large round hole is the bottom of the barrel? And the smaller hole is where the nipple assembly goes? And then the channel connects the two? :hmm:

Yes that is correct!
I used an end mill and made a plung cut into the breech of the barrel and then cut a groove that's why the ends of the cut look round.
Some Pedersoli rifles use a 5 mm (.177 inch)
channel between the vent area and the barrel.

I suppose they do that so they can use the same barrel for flint or percussion without making two different barrels? :hmm:

Not really, the design is a version of Patent Breach design popular in mid to late 18 c. and 19 c. I'm not sure but Henry Nock may have been the original inventor since his design dates to 1757. It is also sometimes referred to as a false breach.
