Hello together,

Tomorrow morning at 06:00 A.M. we met near my hunting ground for our little drive hunt. We first start with hunting at baits out of tree seats. One of the guys got a red fox at about 08:00 A.M. After that we had a short breakfast. starting at 09:00A.M with the real drive hunt. We drove through 4 thickings until 12:30 A.M. And we didn't see anything, no roes, no foxes, nothing. Only a few old tracks.Seems as if there were now animals in the whole forest. Very disapointing. So no pics available at all. disapointed hunters aren't worth to be fotographed.
We will now wait until 10 th of january and then have another try.
Sorry for the unexciting news.

if ya were excited while ya all were out there hunting and ya had a grand day....that's all ya can be proud of....harvasting an animal is the bonus of a great day out in the woods....cheer up and keep at it and soon ya will be rewarded with a harvast :hatsoff: :v ...............bob

Thanks! You are right. We were excited and had fun, nevertheless. And even when we didn't hunt much we had learnd much for the future.

By the way it was the first BP-hunt in GE, I think.

Look at it this way. You did just as good as any hunter using a modern rifle. Just being out in the woods with other black powder shooters is a good part of the fun. I can't count the times I've been skunked, but still had a great time. Maybe by your next hunt you can get a few more black powder hunters to join your group. I see your first black powder hunt as a success, for you and your friends were there. :hatsoff:

Well, you had a good day out, as bob said. Now you kinda know what deer hunting is like here in the northeast US! :( :winking:

Well Kirremeister,
A bad day hunting is still better than a Great day at work. :v

Many thanks to all responders for the helpful answer. I now see it in the same way as all of you. Think my post was written in the first angryness about the bad luck.

Verry Merry Chrismas to all of you.

Hey Kirrmeister.
That's hunting.
Noflike Krystdagen en in protte Lok en Seine yn it Nije Jier.
That was Frisian.
:hatsoff:

Kerrmeister: If you have snow, now is the time to go out and scout the territory to find where the deer are located. Deer tend to react to snow by first finding a place out of the wind, and then finding a place where they can find good food to eat. If they get hit with a blizzard, they are often trapped in forests, and will eat the bark off trees if they can't get out to fields where they can find hay, or alfalfa, or rye, or sorgum, wheat, corn, or other grains. Its a lot easier to track them to their bedding areas in fresh snow, than at any other time of year. Use it between now and Jan. 10. It might just improve the chances for that hunt tremendously.

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year.

Paul

Hello Paul, thanks for the tipp. The snowless time is our great problem. normally we have at thr brginning of dec snow and then hunting at the bait on roes is very easy, but until now there is no snow or only a little. so roes have enough natural feeding and dont't need baits. hope this will change in jan. then we have a new try.

Merry chrismas to you and a happy new year.

Hello Kirrmeister,

Thanks for posting your hunt. I wouldn't say that you had unexciting news. I have many more pictures of me on a hunt when no game was harvested. Every hunt I go on is exciting and successful even when I don't kill anything. I'm thankfull each and every time I get to go because one day I know that my body or some law will prevent me from going hunting. I could write books on the hunts that I didn't kill anything and only short stories of the hunts that I did kill something. Thanks again for your story. I enjoyed reading it.

Merry Christmas to all.

Not every trip out into the wilds nets game.I have been going out at least three to four times a week for a month and missed twice. At the end of the season, deer are very wary.

I'll go out today and set up a stand in a new location that looks very promising.

You still had a good time.
