I see the benifits of a drop tube and want to make one but am concerned about static shock with a plastic tube.
Should I be concerned about it?

And what is the best material to make the tube out of and size?

Go to the local hardware and get a small brass funnel and a length of brass tubing, then solder or epoxy the funnel onto the tube...

As far as the size is concerned, that depends on the caliber of the gun it is being used on, you want the tube to have a smaller outter diameter than the bores inner diameter, you also don't want the tube large enough to scoop up the fowling when you insert it into the bore, this would plug it and gum it up...

We've discussed this several times and most people say not to worry...

I bought mine from a cabella's catalog, look there for Ideas, Tube fits inside eye screws, and held in place/and or adjusted with simple o-rings. After seeing how simple it is, I was ashamed to have bought it. Oh well, Can't find brase tube use copper. If you are getting into reloading, buy a set of Lee Powder measures, the best 9 bucks I have ever spent. You get about 15 measures for the price, great for powder and cornmeal.

Enjoy

you can make a good drop tube and save some money by using a large diameter arrow shaft and a plastic powder funnel that you use for reloading modern guns. just cut off the arrow about 1" back from where you screw the tip in. after cutting remove the burs inside and out. at the other end cut the fletching off with a razor blade and remove the plastic nock making sure to leave the tapered end of the arrow shaft. now trim the top of the shaft so that the opening is a hair larger than the opening for the funnel. now ruff up the outside of the arrow shaft and the inside the lower part of the powder funnel. place the arrow in the bottom of the funnel and place it on the work bench. make a small batch of epoxy and fill the opening around the arrow shaft and the funnel. once the epoxy has dried rap electrical tape around the arrow shaft all the way to the bottom. make sure that you put at least two extra raps of tape at the bottom of the tube. and there you have a simple and cheep drop tube that works well. i have been using one for about 8 yrs. hope this helps.
