Hello all,
I have been trying to replace the drum on my .32 Dixie rifle. I have been through alot of washers to try to find one that will cause the drum/nipple to fall into position with the hammer. I found a small lock washer that causes it to fall into place at just handtight, using the nipple for leverage. There is plenty of thread in the barrel, so I was wondering if I might use a thread locking compound to tighten this thing down. With this getting only a 35-40 grain charge....do you think this will safely work? Or keep looking through washers......
Thanks,

Can't help you with your current dilema. Next time buy a drum that has not been drilled and tapped yet for the nipple. Then you can tighten it up, mark where the hammer falls. Remove the drum drill and tap. Then install, I do use lock-tite, some others don't. Uncrichie.

I think I would want it tighter than that, maybe find brass shim stock and make your own washers. If it's just finger tight it will rotate every time the hammer hits it. I know because I had the same problem once.
