The movie Drums Along the Mohawk is an old familiar one which I've seen several times. I like it, in spite of John Ford's heavy-handed and romanticized treatment. There aren't many Revolutionary War movies available. Somehow, I never had read the book. I just finished it, and I was very pleasantly surprised and impressed. Ford messed up a really good book. Written by Walter D. Edmonds, it is a quite long, complex, gritty, frank and historically accurate telling of a part of the war we hear little about. I'm very glad I finally got around to it, and I can recommend it highly to anyone interested in that period of our country's history.
