Anybody know what I can put on nipple so I can dry fire my GPR percussion rifle without damaging nipple or hammer?

A lot of folks put a strip of leather or rubber over the nipple. Heavy cloth can work also. When finished, always check to see if or what has obstructed the touch hole.

a little piece of tight fittin' re-enforced neoprene hose slipped over the nipple.

A black faucet washer like the kind that was used on the older 'turn the knob a couple of times to turn it on" style faucets can be slid down over the nipple.
Usually the lip around the face of the hammer will hit it before the flat face of the hammer face hits the nipple.

Yup,

Bibb washers work excellent, especially the beveled flavor.

Coyote hunter, like the guys said the old style hard, beveled black faucet washers are your best bet.You can buy a package of them that come in various sizes and probably get sizes to fit several guns.Easy to put on and off,and will last a long time.I just keep a bunch in my shooting box.

I use a small piece of surgical tubing (used to hold pencil lead to a fishing line) easily found at any outdoor store for pennies a foot.

With the hammer all of the way down on the nipple, you can dry fire without the hammer moving. Just set the trigger and squeeze the trigger like you were shooting. You will feel the trigger move but the hammer will not damage the nipple. This is very useful to become accustomed to the trigger but may not be what you had in mind......................watch yer top knot.............

Yeah that is what I do. I was reading these posts and was wondering if I was damageing the trigger group. It may not be as good for follow thru but It works for me! Geo. T.

Yes or the little finger of the left hand will work as well, might hurt like hell but it won't block up the nipple .

you could go to your local auto parts store and get some of the rubber caps that fit over an intake vaccum port.
