I think the period films come out in year cycles. My opinion it started with Drums along the Mohawk, Jeremiah Johnson in the 70's, I even liked Mountain Men with Charleston H. Then we saw Last of the mohicans with DD Lewis, The patriot which got dumped on but I liked, Black Robe. Any more I missed? I think we are due for another.

The Revenant was a good movie. I found a copy at a local flea market on dvd for a $1. I had a friend who does not have cable, who watches cowboy movies on dvd. I bought it for him, gave it to him last year.
A year goes by and I see him again (he lives in another town). I asked about the flick and his response was he had never seen it.
Oh well.

Personally I didn’t care for revanant
The conspirator was excellent and the heart of the sea about the whale ship Essex that was the inspiration of Moby Dick was over the top good, though it wasn’t a finical success
