The boat is still at Ft. Benton, but was in sad shape when I was there last summer. It looked like they were doing a bit of restoration on it. Cool little town to visit.

We saw it some years ago while traveling in MT. Pretty neat place is Benton.

'The Bounty' was quite good. The more so because Mel Gibson only starred in it. Had he produced it he would no doubt have used it as yet another vehicle for his anti-Englishness! 'The Charge of the Light Brigade' with Errol Flynn, whilst historically inaccurate, was entertaining. A shame more movies about the Crimean War haven't been made, especially as the correct use of the Enfield Rifle Musket, used on one occasion to take out an artillery battery at 600 yards, would make fascinating watching.

Just watched 'Last of the Mohicans' again the other day. For Christmas one of my sons replaced my VHS version of 'The Patriot' with dvd - so I got to watch Mel & Heath for the first time in quite a while.

I've got a dvd of 'Twelve O'Clock High' (Gregory Peck) on the way to replace my VHS version.

Trapdoors were Hollywood's go-to guns for fake muzzle loaders. Or just using them instead of anything resembling the right guns. I built my Trapdoor Officer's Model from an old trapdoor that was used in the original Gunga Din movie.
