Please let's be clear: I replied to the OPs red dot and or reflex sight photo. This whole post is about that issue. What were you replying telesopes to?
"Telescopes aren't exactly newfangled. Hell, they had them in the Civil War, I think."

The OP didn't post the photos the second poster did.

You know you can replace the percussion lock with an electric squib, zero lock time
You can make a hole in the handle for the battery and cover it with a grotesque face mask cover😂
Don’t know about any grotesque face mask regulations, but I remember reading (I’m not going to take the time to check where) that electronic ignitions (think it was CVA/Traditions) were illegal in some areas for hunting, so maybe not a viable alternative. I have never heard one way or the other about using a piezo ignitor in a hunting scenario, though with a bit of hairspray they work great in a potato muzzleloader.

Fellas, how feasible do you think it would be to fix a scope to a Colt 1851? Has anyone done it yet? I reckon you'd need some sort of hexagonal clamp, with the front of it having a small hole that fits right over the front sight to prevent movement forward and backward. You could probably make it look pretty cool. What do you guys think?
Not practical on an open top unless mounted "scout style" ahead of the cylinder gap. I have a scoped RedHawk but the top strap allows it to be fixed over the cylinder gap which shields the scope tube from the gas escapement impact and potential failure.
It could be accomplished on a ROA or any other closed frame gun with a bit of mill work or tapping and drilling for mounts.

Well, you know, for the steampunk look. Like a cut down version of pic related.

I have that very set up loose in my safe I picked up at a gun show some years back. I think it is made in China by a company called Hi-Lux if memory serves. Seems to be of reasonable precision for a knock off but nothing compared to the quality of an MVA rig.
I have a similar set up made by MVA but 23 inches long in Silhouette micro meter adjustment mounts on a Low Wall match .22 rifle.

I put a LPVO and IR designator on my Colt. Took a bit to figure out where to put the touch switches. Adding a silencer next week, it's getting threads tapped as we speak.
