I am haveing some Giraffe Bone grips made for a 1862 pocket police revolver. The slabs I bought are snow white and do look a bit more like ?Ivory then regular bone does, has a bit more of a "grain" pattern like Ivory.

I want to stain them to "age" them a slight yellowish color like slightly aged ivory, not real yellow but that cream color that aged Ivory gets but am not sure how. The guy ?i bought them from suggested soaking overnight in tea but that seems to be more tan then cream color. Any suggestions for making a stain? I will have some scraps left over to practice on.

I came up with a forum, "thecarvingpath.net" that you might want to check out, just copy and paste that in Google. If you have trouble seeing what I did, just google "staining bone". Pretty neat colors, not sure how what they did it but some pieces look close to what you want.

Much of the giraffe bone is "stabilized". If yours is, I don't know of any stain that will penetrate it.
