Needed, a sear spring for early (70's) CVA flintlock. (would be the same for percussion)

Does anyone know where early CVA lock parts might be obtained?

Hi Tan,

is there anyway to send me a photo or the dimensions of one. I have a kit but I am sure it is not from the 70's although I may have a few old parts lying around. If I found one I would be glad to send it to you.

HI Tan, this is the one I have. If you can use it send me a pm with your address. If you will save the photo to your computer you can enlarge it.

rabbit03 & Roy,

Here is pic with scale for size comparison. The lock may have had a slight tail at rear of lock which was removed. Broken sear spring shown.

Many thanks for replies

I believe (94.7% sure) I have one, I'll let you know in the morning.

Yep just noticed your photo. Mine is the same but in precussion and probably a little newer but everything else looks identical. Sent a PM just let me know,

T, I'd call up CVA, and give'em Heck, that dang spring only lasted 30 plus years. What kinda manure are they buildin over there in Spain. :rotf: Good luck with yer search. I see them fer sale all the time on ebay Bill

Your post echoes my sentiments. Cheap danged lock on my first build only lasted a little over three decades. But it has accounted for many mulies and goats, (antelope to pilgrims) not to mention hard usage.

:shake: 5.3% left and I was 100% wrong about that. But I can make one, just need the lock though. :v

CVA still has springs for that lock. Just ordered and received a new one less than 2 weeks ago. The Maslin wanna-be lock (sometimes called a No. 4) can be easily altered into a very decent looking and serviceable lock for use on a new rifle. Grind off the false edge or border from around the circumfrence and clean it up smoothly. Reshape the feather spring mounting hole finial and you'll suprize yourself with the difference. Cheers, Bookie

I had contacted CVA, but received no answer as of yet.

I am aware of the replacement locks, but all that is needed is the sear spring.

Thanks for the info on parts availability at CVA, was good to hear.
