A canoe, take a canoe! And wooden shoes!!
The eastern is traditionally a mud bath, often involving ferrying camp gear from the site in boats and the use of heavy earth moving equipment to clear the cars from the parking lots.
Last year they ran out of firewood on the fourth day and could move none into the site due to mud. The hooters could not be cleaned for over a week and no water could be brought on site. Then the temps droped and no one had any firewood.
I'm not saying do not go, I am saying that you should go prepared. Take enough of everything to stay longer than you expect, you may not be able to leave! Take an alternative heat source, propane, charcoal, etc. Be prepared for sudden near freezing conditions in the WVA hills.
And take $$$$$$$$ You never have enough money at the eastern! Stuff is not high, it's just available in large quantities. All of that stuff you've been wanting and could not find at the small local events will be available.
Check all of the blanket traders! When someone arrives and throws out a blanket get over there, that's where the real deals are, on the blankets. I bought a CVA KY flint pistol for $40 and a Queen Anne copy for $60. Both were partly finished but in firing condition.
Have fun, and take pictures. We want to see too!!
