I am thinking of getting a Walker pistol from EMF. Does anyone own one ? I guess my question is; how do they stack up to Uberti in overall quality. I already own a Uberti 3rd Mod. Dragoon and am very happy with it.
Just wondering, nilo52 :idunno:

Haven't heard much in the way of good or bad about EMF. I'd stick with Uberti! My Walker is a Uberti, and so is my 3rd Model Dragoon.

I am a bit confused. Was just on the EMF website and they do not currently have any Walkers listed or searchable.

Are you considering buying a second hand Walker originally sold by EMF?

Maybe that's why I never heard of an EMF Walker :idunno:

The "Blue Book of Modern Black Powder Values" shows that E.M.F. imported many different C&B pistols over the years. These include:
1847 Walker, 1st, 2nd & 3rd Model Dragoon, 1848 Baby Dragoon, 1849 Wells Fargo, 1851 Navy (.36 & .44), 1851 NAVY "BUNTLINE BUFFALO", "1851 Griswold Confederate, 1860 Army, 1860 Army Sheriff, 1861 Navy, 1862 Police, 1862 Police Brass, 1862 Pocket Navy, "Navy Squareback", 1858 Remington Army, 1863 Remington Pocket Pistol.

It says the pistols were made by Uberti and Pietta.

In the early to mid-1980's EMF used to set up at The Big Reno Gun Show in Reno, Nevada. At that time they had Armi San Marco (ASM) marked 1851 and 1860 Colts.

For part of this time for an extra $20 they had 51's and 60's with Colt address marked barrels. Some had cylinders with "Colts Patent No". on them in the roll engraving rather than just "Patent No."). Think their other Colts and Remingtons were also ASM marked. These did not have any EMF markings on them. Bought quite a few of the Colt marked 1851's and 1860's.

At the show EMF probably had ASM Walkers/Dragoons also, just do not remember. Do have both an ASM Walker and a 3rd Model Dragoon that have the Colt barrel addresses; these were purchased second hand without original boxes/papers. Am not aware of any other retailer who sold Colt marked ASM's back then.

Quality of these guns was reasonable but not nearly as good as Uberti. ASM Colts did not have proper wedge/arbor fit and were more likely to break small parts than Uberti's of the time.

Blockade Runner has one for $349, I am shopping around and so far that is the least expensive dealer I have found. I know "you get what you pay for" But I also know sometimes You CAN get a good deal.

Honest, I do not work or own stock in S&S firearms, but have bought from them and have always been very happy. They have the Uberti Walker for $348.00 do not know which brand Blockade Runner sells.

I had a EMF imported Dragoon in the late 1970's. Wow, I'd forgotten all about it til I saw this thread.

My revolver was a flaming POS. Egg shaped chambers(one with a crack in the cylinder face), tooling marks, crap timing. It was too light as a boat anchor and two heavy for a paper weight.

I don't remember what I did with it... but I'm sure I didn't sell it as a shooter as it wasn't.

I'm sure things have changed in the last 33 years with EMF...

but funny thing, out of all the shooters here, almost nobody has owned one. :hmm:

Cheers,

DT

I tool a peek on the web and found what I think is a good deal on a Cinnamon Arms imported Walker for $375. 25 bucks more for a Cinnamon Arms Uberti, to me that's a good deal.

Look to a website named Buffalo Arms and you'll find what you seek hidden under the Dragoon section.

Cheers,

Just bought a new Uberti Walker from Dixie, $355 delivered to my front door.

Other places had the Walker as out of stock or would not ship to Illinois. :(

Thanks for the info ! But the S&S Walker is $362.50 with Shipping to me in California. I just found out that the Blockade Runner is not an EMF, instead its a Uberti thats $359.00 incld. shipping. Just looked at Dixie and they want $373.95 to ship to me. is there anyone who knows of a better place :idunno:

You are correct. I got an E-mail from them today that states the maker as Uberti, NOT Hartford. Who knew ? anyway sorry for the confusion but i'm starting to belive it's my normal state these days.

Well, to add to the confusion, the "Blue Book of Modern Black Powder Values" says:
"E.M.F.percussion revolvers are available in two series- the Standard and Hartford. The Hartford Series, introduced in 1993, features German silver plated backstrap and trigger guard, and walnut grips with original type inspector's cartouche. Also available in cased sets. E.M.F. models are manufactured in Italy by Uberti, and Pietta.

This would seem to indicate that the Hartford Series is a better grade and as Uberti is generally recognized as making the best reproductions it would seem to follow suit that they may have made them.

I got my Uberti Walker from S&S Firearms. Good people to work with -- can't go wrong buying from them...
