CLOSED Euroarms or Pedersoli 1841 Rifle in .54 Caliber

A long shot request here, but I am currently in search of a Euroarms or Pedersoli M1841 “Mississippi Rifle” in .54. Only interested in the earlier Mexican War configuration as opposed to the .58 with bayonet lug, etc.

I realize these are less common now, but appreciate any leads.

Just to encourage you, I have owned Mississippis made by Euroarms, Navy Arms (Antonio Zoli), and Replica Arms (Bernandeli). Any of them are good. The old Euroarms are .54 caliber but are really heavy. Mine shot true and was a tack-driver. I gave it to my youngest son when he got to outshoot me. My oldest son has the Replica Arms Mississippi that I bought in Harpers Ferry from the Winchester Sutler in 1977 for $165 new in box. That is a great gun, and the nice thing about the old ones (Navy Arms or Replica Arms) is that they have a breechplug which is easy to remove if you needed to work on the bore. (Came in handy when my oldest son dry-balled the Mississippi I gave him.) Now I have a Replica Arms that is like brand new. Just about any Mississippi you buy will have to be sighted in. They have low rear sights and high front sights. I have had to grind the front sight down on every one I have owned. I use mine for Mex War living history programs, and just for fun at the range.

The older Mississippi rifles made by Zoli and Bernandeli are all .58 caliber with three lands and grooves and shallow rifling. That works great for minie balls but not as good for patched round ball. The .54 made by Euroarms should be shot with a patched .530 round ball (or .525 like they originally were). The Euro has seven lands and grooves with deep rifling, perfect for patched round ball.

I am not sure if Pedersoli makes them in .54, but perhaps they have added that recently. I have been out of the market since I got mine.

You can find used Mississippi rifles, just have to be patient. Check out the NSSA forum for used ones.
