Look at what happened at Chancellorsville and The Wilderness. Musket fire turned the woods there into a furnace.

But I wouldn't worry too much about setting the woods on fire unless it was extremely dry and windy. Just keep your eyes open for any smoldering.

That's what happens whenever one fires a flintlock. The video was shot in low light and all the fireworks show up better. We don't see this when we shoot in full daylight. and this was a light caliber rifle, .40 cal. if I remember right.

Windy's shooting matches are held on the last Saturday in October and we usually start shooting late in the morning. It's generally almost too dark to see the target by the time we finish. We never have to worry about setting anything on fire either. The last shoot was the first in about 10 years where it didn't rain.
