Hi, i'm looking for examples of British light infantry carbines from the French & Indian War period. I understand that the Royal Artillery Carbine and some Dragoon carbines were used, but were there any special Long Land Pattern short muskets? Thanks.

A reAly hot bed of contention , the rifle shop site has specs for kit builds , two common books that are around Weapons of the American Revolution by Warren Moore and Collector's Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution although these are a bit dated they do allow a good generic comparison between the MUSKET AND CARBINES . Of course there is 15years between the F&I and the AWI

I have one of North Star West's Light Dragoon carbines. A good source for F&I period carbines is the book Of Sorts and Provincials. They have several examples of non pattern muskets. These are muskets purchased by commanders. Each batch is alike but they are not the standard British pattern. They do have crown markings.

 I forgot their Officers Musket complete with bayonet and kit is pretty much spot on for the Carbines issued to the second Scotts Regt to arrive in North America for service in the F&I War . :)

It is worth noting that some of these units changed arms up to 3 times during the F&I war .

Both. It could mean .66 caliber or 42" barrel.

Here is my Fusileer's Carbine of 1759 pattern.

Stumpkiller,

Your 1759 Carbine is awesome and is exactly what I'm looking for for my next project. May I ask where it came from? Is that a TRS kit? Do you know if it's similar to the Sergeant's Carbine? I'm also considering the Officer's fuzee from NSW. Thanks.

Came from the man holding it in the image. Kit Ravenshear - now sadly deceased. He passed away in 1998. It had a Getz barrel and was taken from measurements of a L.I. Fusil. The bayonet is an original.

I have what I think is an original .69 cal modle 1748 James London flintlock cabine with the original baynet. The barrel is 31 and 3/4 inches the gun is 47 and 1/4 inches. If you like I can send pictures for you.
