There is a gentleman and talented artisan from Kentucky that makes and sells handmade baskets frequently here in the Clothing, Cookware, Crafts For Sale/Wanted/Trade section of this website. I asked if he could make what I called a “bun” basket to help accentuate my 18th century persona. Going by the name of Kyblackpower he made me this basket and it is as fine of an example of that style as any I have seen. His prices are fair, service is fast and communicates thru all stages of the order. I highly recommend Tim for his fine work and service.

That is a very good looking piece of work! I don't believe Tim lives very far from me and I would definitely buy from him if any basket needs came up. My great grandmother used to make a style quite similar to the one in your photo. Egg baskets, I think she called them. They were probably 14-16" in diameter and used primarily for gathering eggs, but could be used for any suitable purpose around the farm.
