Everybody seems to have their own version of a favorite stew or what I call a HUNTERS STEW made over a campfire. Be it beef, poultry or game meat. Let's hear your favorite recipes to make us all droooool! :stir:
 
in the 'recipes' section are some stew recipes including my own for venison. it's getting that time of year, cool here today.
 
Here is a recipe that I have used with success many times.

Get a whole chicken
After breakfast drop the chicken into a pot and bring it to a boil. Add some salt and spices.
Go shooting
Come back to camp for lunch
The water has cooled and so you open the pot and remove all the bones and skin. Drop the meat back in the pot and kick up the fire again.
Add whatever you have into the pot, rice, beans, corn, whatever.
Go shooting again.
When you come back dinner is ready.
Clean up is easy.

have you ever made squirrel or rabbit dumplings on a campfire or at deer camp?
chop an onion into the stock while stewing and also grate or thinly slice a carrot for a flavor boost.

Dried Vegetables (carrots, onion, green onion,tomato paste)
Barley
Wild Rice
Parched corn
Portable soup (Knorr or Maggi soup cubes)
Meat (jerky, beef, venison, squirrel or a combination of some or all)
Red pepper flakes
Black pepper
 
this time of year most folks have an over abundence of tomatos, try sliceing n drying them, then run them through the blender until ya get a fine dust. Add a teaspoon of the dried tomato dust to soup or stew and it really bumps up the flavor. Once ya got this stuff you will find yerself trying it out in all sorts of ways, from plain broth to dry maranades. try it you'll like it
