Just made these...ebony handles, brass parts (including scabbard for pick), tempered steel pick (doubles as a small awl), and hog bristle whisk......

Yes, I turned the handles on a lathe and slotted them with a mill. I don't have pictures of doing the pick & whisk, but here is a series of pictures of a knife I made with a hippo ivory grip. The grip was slotted the same way...turned on a lather and then slotted on the mill.
