Fast twist rates

I been wondering what is the fastest twist rate availble barrel for the LGPR 54 cal.(maybe custom) ?.how far and accurate can it get? ...maybe a drop in green mountain barrel.I have the stock barrel now and it shoots roundball great, jus wondering how far I could get it to shoot with a conical with say a 1-18 to 1-38 twist...

Several years ago I had some custom barrels made in 54 with a 1 in 22 twist. the first was a 40" that would put every shot on a paper plate at 200 yards. The second was around 32" that took a Caribou at 400 yards in Alaska by a professional guide. Both guns had a section of the barrel cut off to make a bullet sizer that engraved the rifling on the bullet.

John , thanks for replying, could you elaborate some more when you have time ?, that sounds exactly like what I was looking for...I am wanting a sharps, but was thinking maybe doing this for now and get a sharps next year..about how much would this cost me ?...and do you know someone to do it ..or can I get a fast twist green mountain somewhere for it ? I like the idea of the sizer too.

The T/C White Mtn Carbine in 50 cal only has a 1-20" twist. The bl is only 21 or 22" long but stabilizes 405 gr .458 bullets in a sabot. With 100 gr 2f Goex the recoil is ferocious!!!

I have a .45 MLR with a 1 in 20 twist that I am discussing in the Percussion rifle section. Not a good prb rifle in my brief experiecne :shake:
