Feedback on powder charge

In reading this thread, I still have to shake my head at the misconception that if a lot of powder is good, then even more is better. Shot placement is extremely important and poor accuracy can only spoil a perfectly aimed shot. I tell all my students to start low with charge levels, work up by 3gr increments and look for the group to shrink and then open back up as you increase the powder charge. Then go back to where the group was smallest and start tweaking it from there. Guns are different and what's in the books might not be the best load for your rifle, you'll have to experiment.

For a .45 using 3f Swiss, I'd start with 50gr and go from there.
 
If you overcharge because it just doesn't seem like enough you are more than likely blowing unused powder out on the ground. Accuracy is the most important item in the equation

Totally agree.

And as to the.45, mine seem to all settle in right around 55-60 grains of fffg.
