I just got a new sheet of felt from Duro-Felt for making wads. I have been using 1/16 inch hard felt from them to this point. Wen I placed this order I brain farted and ordered 1/8 inch hard felt. Now I wonder how these thicker wads will perform in my muzzleloaders.

What thickness do y'all use?

Just as one reference, Oxyoke's wool wads are 1/8" and I've used them for years in rifles and more recently in smoothbores...if I was going to order material to make my own wads it would be 1/8", not 1/16"

The factory made wads I have from Remington and Cabela's are about 1/8.
The wads I have been making work great and really make a difference in my new GM barrel.
I just took a closer look at the felt I have been using. It is part FM18H and the new stuff I just received is FM18H-1. The old stuff is slightly under 1/8 and the new stuff is slightly over 1/8.

I was wrong thinking I had 1/16. Oh well, I've been wrong before.

So if you're looking for good felt for wads Duro-Felt part # FM18H-1 is perfect. They even have reference to black powder shooters in the product pages.
