I made this one from spare parts I had laying around. I started it the fall of 09. Finally got it done.
It's a 20 ga. smoothbore. Barrel is 36" and I don't know who made it. The lock is a Queen Anne. Brown Bess trigger guard & pipes. Has a silver butt plate I the rest of the hardware is brass.

OK. I just didn't like the color of this thing so I tore into it and applied aqua fortis & linseed oil. I like the color now. While I had it apart I blued the barrel, heat blued the screws & trigger and did a little engraving here & there.

Very nice. Maybe I should try taking pictures outside for a change. They might come out a lot better.

I love it, that wood color and finish is amazing you did a kick arrse job on that one, carry it proudly, it is a 9 on a scale of 1-10 in my book, all it lacks as a 10 to me is a few more inces of barrel, very well done :applause:

I agree with the longer barrel but it's a spare parts gun. I have a 44" x 20 gauge inlet in walnut which will eventually get finished. I just have too many guns started and too little ambition to finish them all any time soon. I tink the next one will be the .60 cal x 50" tapered octagon barreled rifle. It just needs a vent liner and some carving / engraving / finishing. It's a nice piece of maple with good stripes, too.

"It just needs a vent liner" Now THAT I would argue with you about

Shazam! works also but one is more likley to get a gun with a fast twist and shallow grooves.

I love the fact that you just couldn't let it be and went at it again and came up with such a beautiful color finish for the wood and barrel. They really complement each other nicely, looks like a perfect creation of nature. I think Swampy's right, the gun DOES look like it just sprung up magically!
