Above is my first Muzzleloader. It is a T/C Renegade in .50 cal. I paid a whopping 25 dollars for it off of my now ex-brother in law. I took my first deer with this rifle back in October hunting with my Father. My first deer also happened to be a good size 6 pt buck.

Here we have just a CVA Bobcat that I picked up for a whopping 60 dollars. It is .50 cal as well and not much to look at. Havnt shot this one yet but will soon hopefully. Also considering a restock for it to make it a little more eye friendly.

Finally we have the 100 dollar T/C Hawken. It was made in 1981 which makes it a year older than I am. I bougth this to give to my Father for Christmas as he complimented me on my Renegade several times. It is also in .50 cal and is in great shape, It has a few impressions in the stock but the finish is still in-tact.

Just figured I would show you guys a few of my smoke poles and hopefully I can get some more in the closet. Looking to get a custom built gun when im able to fund one. Also looking to pick up a cheap flinter to give that a go and see how I like them.

Thanks guys, Jeremiah.

You should enjoy those Thompsons. In my experience, they are great guns. You can't beat the prices you paid, that's for sure.

Yes they are sling swivel studs. Is that a bad thing?

Only if you're trying to be HC/PC, but then those guns aren't anyway, so I wouldn't be too concerned.

I have one of those bobcats, It shoots pretty good for what it is. Beware if you shoot a conicle with a charge of powder in the upper range 70,80,90gr. Take out some dental insurance first, It Kicks like a stiff legged mule. I took the buttplate off and slid a piece of 3/8 steel wrapped in a rag inside then put the buttplate back on. It helped a lot, they seem to be to light in the stock instead of recoiling straight back it wants to move back and up, right into your cheek. I thought about restocking mine also, but it will probably stay in the closet to be used as a loaner.good luck :v

Yeah the Hawken is gonna be used primarily by my father for hunting and we really dont go all out to be historicaly accurate. Once I get my custom built gun I will deffinately go toward being more historical.

Thank you for the heads up about the loads and the gun kicking like a mule. I seem to remember being 15 years old and watching my Dad's Bobcat kicking him like a mule and knocking his glasses all out of shape. I laughed than and still laugh today about it. He had some few kind words to say to me for laughing at him. I shot it after him and had no problems with it. He was none to happy. Oh the stories about shooting with my father that I have.

You got a talent for finding deals! I still have a Traditions Deer Hunter which is the same size as the Bobcat only fixed sights & real cheap & simple. I've taken many deer with it, though.

The Bobcat is inexpensive enough to keep as a loaner/ back-up rifle, no matter how ugly you think it is. It is a basic, utilitarian gun. I got one for $50, but the barrel was rusty, and the rear sight drives me crazy.

This Bobcat originally had the fixed sights on it as well. I had a rear sight laying around from my CVA kentucky that was pretty much worthless so I moved it onto the bobcat. My Dad hunts with a Traditions Deer Hunter and he has done pretty good with it. Im gonna keep the Bobcat for the wife more than likely so she has one to shoot when I go out. I still need to shoot it though before I will let her mess with it.
