Has anyone ever used Dem-Bart Stock and Checker oil as a finish. Is this finish durable even though its watery or light. Can the Dem-Bart oil be used by itself as both a sealer and finish or should a sealer such as permalyn be used under it. Dem-Bart sells a Stock Filler and Sealer but when I tried it on a blank piece of maple and it started to remove the LMF stain and make the finish "blochy" in appearance

Any oil that eventually dries can be used as a finish, although it may require many coats over a long period of time. You can probably find something much easier like permalyn or TOW's tru coat. Also, you shouldn't need a stock filler on maple since it is not a pourous wood like walnut.

Greymount,

A large number of todays pro's use Dem-bart as a finish over the top of a good quality sealer like permalyn.
Jerry Huddleston, John Bivins, and the like.
I've yet to try it myself, but I'm just about to finish a Lehigh Valley gun, that I plan to try it on. :m2c:

Greymount,
I use Dem-Bart oil almost exclusively. Similar to Chambers. good satin sheen.
Trick is to rub it down right to your liking.
Regards,
Terry

Smallpatch,
Somebody liked it, and the Track gun is gone!
Thank you for your kind accolade. :)
I stand by my statement that Dem-Bart stock oil is GOOD stuff!
Regards, Terry
