I got my possibles bag finished today. Its based on pictures and descriptions of bags carried by the Colonial militia/army that I've found.

Finished size is 14X18" with a 50" strap. The long sides are machine stitched, but the rest is hand stitched. The button holes are stitched with handspun linen (flax)thread, and stitched over handspun wool cord. The buttons are sewn on with the handspun linen thread. The strap is sewn over a 1 1/4" cotton webbing to keep it from rolling and cutting into my shoulder. The bag is made from canvas.

Just needs a run thru the washing machine now.

Nice work, on another thread I just commented on, that there is a difference between your shooting pouch and a hunting or possible bag or haversack. Very handy to have a extra bag.

Uh Oh, a stuff bag, I know how big a woman's bag can get. Sometimes folding a semi tarp in half and stitching it up won't be big enough.

:rotf:

I'm actually one of those that packs light. If I cant stuff it into my pockets, then I prob don't need it.

I do need this one for the encampment in October, as I have to carry extra things for the skills run.

Looks great! Mine is too clean too. Not after this weekend. Only blood may be mine though :haha:

you do really nice work :hatsoff: . you & OhioRamm should move closer together & open up a shop  .

Hey I'll take that compliment. Tallswife is a pretty talented woman, I'd be glad to share a campfire with her some day.

That is a VERY nice looking bag. However, with a bag that large, you may find you want a wider shoulder strap.

I have a WBTS tarred/rubberized Knapsack around that size and I really appreciated the wider shoulder strap, as it was AMAZING how much "stuff" I put in that thing besides food stuffs and how heavy that thing got. :haha:

Oh, after using such bags and/or haversacks, I will never again give a Lady any grief about trying to find something at the bottom of her purse. Way too many times I had to dump a haversack to actually find something I wanted.

Thanks Gus, If it gets to be a problem, it wont take much to wack it off and replace it with something wider.
