Finally got some good pics of the rifle I started last Jan....Its a Dickert kit from Pecatonia with a swamped 40 cal barrel. I prefered the plain look. Browned barrel with LMF, LMF Lancaster maple stain and pure tung oil on stock, 11 coats so far. Thanks for the help and guidance I got while building it, hopefully I didnt screw it up to bad... By the way she shoots real sweet.

I LIKE it! nice job! RC an it shoots good too, always a plus....a BIG plus! thanks fer sharin the pics! RC :hatsoff:

That's real nice.

I just got that same kit delivered yesterday, on .54. That's how I'm leanin is a plainer rifle, but I might do a simple patch box (because I can't carve or engrave to save my life. :shake: )

That wood is beautiful and I love the finish, too. Very nice.

Regards, sse

Wow...it is very nice looking.

Did you have to cut your own dovetails on the barrel and inlet the stock for the buttplate and action on this rifle?

I read about your rifle at Jedediah Starr.

Beautiful!
My GPR kit only took me 20 hours. Your's took a year.
I'm inspired to take on a more challenging build.

Had to install the breach plug, barrel tennons and sights on the barrel. Had never done any of that before, so I took my time and measured about 12 times before cutting anything :haha: Inleted the butt plate so I could get a longer pull length, kind of tough cutting across the grain.
Been getting 3 inch groups at 50 yards, which aint bad for a old feller with bad eyesight and iron sights. :haha: :haha: :haha:

Thanks for the compliments

Gary
