Danglers Dark Brown stain with a little LMF cherry mixed in. Stained, then rubbed out with a alcohol soaked rag, stained again. Process repeated several times till the color was dark enough. The stock was burnished with a deer antler and then about 7 or 8 coats of low gloss Tung Oil rubbed in.

Thanks for the compliment.

Wildatheart,
Thanks, Grease holes or tallow holes are pretty common on guns from the Appalachia Mt. guns. Most are just simple round holes cut with a bit or a pocket knife. You will even see 2 holes cut side by side occasionaly. The Gillespies are the only one I have seen that varied in shapes but I have heard there are others that did it also.

I'm the one that Ken built the rifle for. We worked together very closely on this and I enjoyed the project very much. The internet allowed us to communicate almost everyday. Ken would forward pictures of the project and ask my opinion. We confered on the small changes that were made from the original rifle. Everything seen here is from a Matthew Gilespie rifle. Ken is a talented builder and a great guy. The rifle balances real nice. I hope to kill a deer with it this fall.
