Thanks @TDM , @Brokennock and @Compressorguy 🙂
I’ve been buffing it a little more and the luster is glowing.
I have other flintlocks at hand and set to go, but I would love to use this gun for some deer hunting also ( I will be casting .662 round balls, and just ordered 25 lbs of number 4 shot), but I really think it’s rather long for the woods around here. But nonetheless it might be fun to try🙂

What a wonderful gun!!!
It’s fantastic.

I suspect curly walnut. It is not maple. It could be curly cherry.
Personally I have never seen “curly cherry”.

Again it’s a great gun.
One of the most difficult builds is finishing a started project. There’s a lot to it. A lot more than most think. It’s always easier to start fresh in most cases.
Great job!!!

Thank you 54ball- I am also not sure if the wood is Curly Red Maple of Cherry. If you look back at the early pics you can see right away that it looks more like Cherry in color and grain, but with so much curl I couldn’t convince myself of it. Nonetheless it’s a nose stock wood he selected for the gun.
And you are right in many ways about picking up where someone else left off. Mr. Gallaghan was very skillful In his work but I can’t figure out why he did not fully inlet the lock after he got the plate and barrel lined- up! (I’m glad he didn’t actually do I could inlet another lock in that mystery mortise).
Thanks again for your kind comment!
