70 grs goex 2fg. Lube that i make. Yeah this thing shoots. I have bolt rifles that dont shoot this well. 100 yds is the longest distance to shoot. Im going to have to find a potato field and really give this thing a go.

That's some nice shooting. Do you mind telling me about your sight setup?

that's why i love .451 British style target rifles. no muss, no fuss, they flat shoot without all kinds of silly load development work. good shooting by the way.

I find this very interesting...I dont know much about the rifle but doesnt it take a cast bullet that is kind of like a hexagon in shape???

In response to RickD,
No, the bullet does not have to be hexagonal in shape, a round bullet sized to bore diameter ( preferably pure lead ) will shoot exceptionally accurate. Also you can decrease bullet diameter and then paper patch the projectile.
This will aid in accuracy, and also you can harden the bullet. The paper patching removes the issue of leading the barrel.
Good shooting!!! :hatsoff:

truth be told the 457121, what Lyman calls the PH Whitworth mould, was orignally for the 45/70 & 45/90 1885 & 1886 Winchester. The 451114, what Lyman calls the "Volunteer" mould, is one of the old original Sharp's bullets. It's called "Old Reliable". I really like the 457121 as it is accurate in all my .451 rifles. I modified my mould to accept a hollow point pin or cast a normal flat point. The hollow point version weighs 460 grs. and swats deer like my big round ball rifles, as in dead right there.
