Decided to be brave and show you all my first attempt at refurbishing a plain horn which I had laying around unused .Filed down the flats and grooves first getting rid of an ugly big brass spring loaded end as the spring had ceased to work years ago. Then had my first attempt at scrimshaw after seeing all the fine horns that had been done here on the forum , am not happy with the border but it was my first so it stays as a reminder unless I get to filing it off that is later on .I have a Mountain man loading his piece and a growling Grizzly just to his left while another ambles down a ridge in the other photo .Also a rough compass on the top .I turned down a new stopper from some Black Wattle and did myself a horn tip measure to finish it off .I need to check out how you all do your great woven straps next .Really enjoyed the scrimshaw and learnt a lot from it and what I will do to the next horn .Its already in progress but it will take some time yet, a smaller hunting horn this time

Stace   EXELLENT , remember that the amount of horn dust you inhale is directly related to the number of horns you want to make!!! it is truly an addictive hobby. Great work Bro , we will be waiting for more pics of other projects.

Thanks again for the comments I am honoured that you like them

Mate no Grizz down here BUT didn't think a Kangaroo or Wombat would look all that traditional to go with my Lancaster and Hawken
Don't mind drawing a Grizzly but wouldn't be all that fussed about tangling with one .Sure would make you learn to load FAST with a frontloader

Stace if your shooting is as good as your scratching on that horn one shot should make that grizzz think twice about tangling with you :v

If that's your first try, I want to see them when you turn pro! :rotf: Great job on the horn! :hatsoff: :applause:
