Iam wanting to build a small caliber rifle this winter, iam a lefty and feel like building my own would be the way to go, iam fairly mechanically inclined, would it be a bit much to get a kit put together from track of the wolf and let them do some of the labor that they offer and than finish it myself, would I need to expect to have to buy some special tools for the job? I don't feel building one from a box kit would be that difficult but with all the options and different parts they offer iam wondering if it might be more for someone that's advanced and has more experience.

Not having seen one, and not being a south paw... my brother is, but not me, have you looked at the Kibler kits ? I don‘t know if they offer a left handed kit. I never really even gave that much thought. If Money was no object, how about getting an inexpensive kit and putting it together ? You could get familiar with how things go together. :dunno:

I don't think Kibler has geared up yet for a lefty lock but I think it's been mentioned.

Pecatonica has some kits at very reasonable prices. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the majority of TOW stocks come from Pecatonica.

I can't answer your question for you, but here are some observations. The boxed up kits (Lyman, traditions), etc., are not always the simple screw together propostions that you might expect. After five GPR kits, only one didn't need "corrections". One needed to be returned for a new stock. However, Lyman does have great customer service.

The kits like the Pecatonica and Track are precarved and that can be helpful AND frustrating. They might need corrections that you don't see until you have done it wrong! If you do one of those it might help if you order it without the lock inlet. Seems counter intuitive, but it might be simpler in the end.

Either way, it would be beneficial for your efforts togeta building guide such "the gunsmith o fGrenville. County. Instead of looking back at the "woulda coulda shoudas'" you can be look forward to the whys.

Plenty of people have started out building from a blank for the first gun. Its not that hard. Get all the books and watch all the videos that you can find. I would say that building from a blank is easier than than from a kit. A workshop full of fancy tools sure helps, but you don't need it. Track of the Wolf does not do any work that cannot be easily done by yourself. There is nothing hard about building a gun if you take your time and pay attention to what you are doing.

Thank you for the encouragement, Bill
