That's a hoot, isn't it?! On the 4th (of July) I went out with a group to shoot clays and used my 20 gauge flintlock fowler - I hit about 25-30% of them - not so well compared to my usual 80% with a modern shotgun... but ALOT more FUN! I was letting some of the others try it - I saw "the look" on one guys face after he shot it and turned to me and said, "That's great!"... you know "the look" - kinda like "I think I found a new love"! I said, "Well, you know what to ask for for Christmas this year!"

I even hit 1 of 3 with my matchlock Sam hit 3of 3 with his matchlock,,,great fun...Chuck

If you think clays are fun, wait until you line up on a rising pheasant or a speeding grouse...

I found a local bargain of 2 partial bags of #2 shot (14 lbs.). I'm looking forward to having some fun patterning it and mixing it up with some other shot sizes I already have. I've seen others mixing their loads up and shooting well that way, so I figured that I should spice things up with some variety too! :hatsoff:

Boy, you lucked out. #2 shot is mighty dear these days. Haven't been able to find any # 2 or #4 shot around here in years. I do have a few lbs of it that i am saving. I mostly use #5 for everything except doves and quail and i use
#7 1/2 for them. Then i use #1 Steel for ducks and geese. This is all out of my Navy Arms double barrel .12 ga.
