First deer for my son

My son drew a muzzleloader mule deer hunt this fall in New Mexico. We were able to find this one on the second day. It’s not real big, but it was a legal shooter. It was his first deer to shoot. Needless to say, he was over the moon excited. Shot it at 25 yards. Shot was a little high, clipped both lungs and his spine. Dropped him instantly though, with a clean pass through.

He used a .50 cal Hawkin I got as a kit about 25 years ago when I was a teenager. This is the first animal the rifle has taken. I’ve taken it out a few times but never saw anything

Heck yeah! The smile on that young man's face is better than any set of horns will ever be. He just got meat for the family! And he just broke the 25 year curse on that rifle. Good job to both of you gents!
