This is my first deer with my Traditions 50 cal Kentucky with .490 RB and .015 patch. I Rattled him in to a head on slightly quartering away shot at about 50 yards. Round ball went in just behind the from shoulder and I found the ball next to the hide on the opposite hind quarter (picture attached.

Awesome ! I just got my first with the same rifle, a Traditions Kentucky flintlock I built from a kit. My deer was only a small button buck, but I'm hooked. What load did you use ? I used 50 gr. of 3F , with a .490" RB ; complete pass through shoulder to shoulder at 30 yards.

Mine is from a kit too. I used a .490 round ball and 70 grains of FF Goex.

That's something to be proud of! Any deer with a flintlock, or even a percussion, is a trophy especially if it's a nice buck. Congratulations.

Congratulations on your first flintlock buck...and what a dandy he is ... I always say any deer taken with a muzzleloader is a trophy...but that one truly is
