Shot my first flintlock deer this past Monday. Got home early from work and drove home fast to get my gun and such, had an hour left of legal daylight. Bagged her with a smoothbore kit I finished earlier this year. .
660 cal. Shooting a .640 roundball, between 65 and 70 grains of 3f. Bareball with some yellow jackets nest stuffed on top.
About 45 yards when I shot her, sweet shot, front left quartered. Right through the lower shoulder and straight through the heart. Didn't go but 50 yards. It's the first deer I've shot in 8 years.
Cannot thank the lord enough for this opportunity to feed my family. Praying I can fill my tags.
I do not know how to tag people but I would like to thank TommyBruce here on the forum for selling this kit to me and helping me along with my questions throughout the build.

Congrats buddy! Just think how good those backstraps fried up in butter and onions are going to be! Even better than usual since you played a huge part in every aspect of the hunt. Enjoy the moment and the memories!
