I decided to do something out of the ordinary for my first powderhorn instead of copying something out of a book. I wanted to do something that reflects my interests. I have done some biological research on shrews, so decided to do one with the theme, "Taming of the Shrew". I haven't really done any drawing since elementary art class, so this is still a work in progress. I would be interested in seeing other creative or unusual themes that any of you have done.

I don't like all the blank space in between the two figures, so I need to figure out what to add to it. Any ideas?

You did an excellant job on the horn and scrim work. And you say this is your first horn? WOW. Nice job. I like the amount of art work that is on the horn. AS IS. Too much can clutter a piece up. It's great just as it stands. How big is the horn if you don't mind me asking???

Looks great, if anything add just a few blades of grass or the like around the shrew

It looks like it belongs to that old "D" science fiction movie "Attack of the Killer Shrews"! Nice work though. No one says you have to do what everybody else does. It's a good looking horn, so embellish it with however much (or less) that you want to. That's what makes it so enjoyable.

It's not a big horn, only 11" in length including the neck. Like I said, it's a work in progress. I've scrimmed the shrew but not the fellow holding the whip. That's just drawn on in pencil.
