Just under a month and I'll be hunting for the first time with a traditional loose powder BP.

Too bad old Rollin'B ain't no-wheres to be found. I'll be usin' the Great Plains Rifle he mentor'd me over. Maybe I'll send him some jerky if he ever makes it back home.

Can anyone tell me why KS opens season so early... Sept 15th is the BP opener. I may need to get a lightn'n bug to sit on my front sight given the heat. Don't know if I'll even see a deer but since I'm sit'n near water I've got some fairly good expectations.

Hi Spot Shooter;

Good luck in your hunt... September does seem kinda early.

Hey, don't forget about mosquitoes, especially since you say you'll be near water.

I don't know about your area, but in my area of SouthWestern Pennsylvania we have the West Nile Virus being carried by mosquitoes.

I know a fellow that had it last Summer and he nearly died from it... it's pretty bad.

Let us know how you do.

Hunt and shoot safe,

Ironsights Jerry,
