These knives came to mind from another recent thread. I made them when I was about 7 years old. That would be 66 years ago. I used some scrap antler, dug out holes for the tangs, jammed them in and secured with hot hide glue. I shaped the bottom blade with a grinder. They still reside in a cabinet in my basement laughing excuse of an office. I'll probably give them to my twin grandsons one day.

Although not my first knife, it is one of my early leaf blades. It started out life as the little chunk of steel that I had to cut out of my homemade forge (semi-truck rim). It has a full tang through the handle & riveted over with the only glue used to hold the pommel decoration. It's 6 inches long and holds a razor sharp edge. My wife wanted a neck knife so here it is.

I recently found an old knife I had made when I was ten or twelve years old. It was made from an old disc blade and though pretty crude and rough it held an edge very well. A couple weeks ago I gave it to a friend mainly as a joke because it was it was rough and my workmanship has come a long way but he gladly accepted it, sharpened it up and started using it. It actually made me feel pretty good that he was so proud of it.
