Whacked a forked horn this morning (our season opened August 1) with the GPR 54, 100 grains FFg and PRB. Fifty yards broadside lung shot, and for all I know the ball is still travelling. Doesn't prove much, but the deer dropped like a sack of potatoes and didn't twitch. Nice exit hole and extensive lung damage. Felt GOOD to see it on the ground- once the smoke cleared, of course!

Liver and onions for dinner. Yessir!

We need pictures or we don't believe you.

No really congrats. In the lower part of South Carolina where I'm from, deer season opens on August 1st too. I hate to hunt in the 90+ degrees so I wait till September. I have a new 54 caliber rifle coming next month, can't wait to try it out.
