Got this doe saturday morning. She was 60 yards.I hit her through both lungs and she ran 50 yards and dropped.I used 90 grains fff goex, home cast round ball, homemade lube and patch. The round ball went clear through and did the job.Me and my son had alot of fun on this trip.

What a great first muzzleloader hunt. Congrats! Looks like a great time. It's always good to get out in nature. Thanks for the pics.

Want to hear somethin funny? After I shot I was shakin and couldnt hardly get the powder in the barrell for a second shot,on a doe of all things.Got it loaded but didnt need a second shot. This was one of the best hunts I have done, thinkin I have one shot make it count. And knowing that I made the ball, patch and lube at home, and the rifle was a kit.I didnt talk to any other hunters up there that was shooting traditional.I told one guy that I was using home made gear and he said good luck with that junk and laughed, then the next day he drove by camp and saw the deer hangin. He looked right at the deer and I waved hello and he didnt wave back and he kept on driving. My son said "Well I guess he dont like to be proved wrong"

Congratulations! You should be very proud of all the work you put into that hunt. :hatsoff: It sure takes a lot more skill than buying a modern gun off the rack and shucking a factory load in.

I foresee my centerfires collecting dust.Im goin after a bull elk next year with a muzzleloader

Looks like a great hunt, camp, and memories...not only for you but your boy as well...congratulations !

Crowhop, that's hilarious! Maybe that feller took a little lesson home with him. I know I run into a lot of folks who aren't knowledgeable about traditional front stuffers and they have the wierdest misconceptions sometimes. Can't hit the side of a barn? Not as powerful as a .22? C'mon! lol

Glad you got your doe and especially glad you got to share it with your son. Congrats again.
