I just started muzzle loading 2 weeks ago, I got me a traditions deer hunter .50. I went out today after work got in my ground blind about 3 oclock and at 5:30 pm a spike came in at 50 yards turned broad side quatering away, my .490 prb hit the left rear ham and broke two ribs on the right side before lodging under the hide at the right front sholder. That deer went only 30 yards.
I am a Traditional junky now for sure.
I am shooting 80gr pyrodex RS, .490 RB, .015 pre lubed patch. I will put up some photos soon of my first muzzleloader deer.

Nice hunt, the first is always kind of special, glad to see you following the traditional path, enjoy the journey.

Yes...you did it like the settlers did it with a patched round ball...congratulations !
:hatsoff:

That is the same rifle that my wife uses, and I like it a lot. It is so light and shoots real good. Her load is 70g of 2f Goex and a .490 pillow ticking patched ball. Good going and may there be more in years to come.

Way to go! It really feels like an accomplishment the traditional way.

Congratulations! I have a .50 Traditions Deer Hunter I got 20 years ago. It was the cheapest gun on the rack. With that rifle I've killed oodles of deer. I still have it, like it and take care of it.
