Here is a picture of my first powder horn. I started with a basic horn kit from Dixie Gun Works. The only modifications I made were to file four flats at the spout and make a new stopper from deer antler. The butt and acorn were given a black oil paint filler and stained with Laural Mtn. Honey Maple, then two coats of True Oil. The entire horn was then given a coat of paste wax.

2nd that... scrimshaw might look mighty fine.

That plain white field is calling for somthing to set it off...

Nice work.

I haven't decided whether or not to scrim something on this. I do know one thing, this is not going to be my only horn. I may use this for practice scrimshaw before I make a really nice horn!

Great looking job. I especially like the idea of the antler stopper.

I don't blame you. I'm already addicted to horn making and I've never made one before. If I can get this huge pile of projects out of the way, I'm heading into horn and bag making next. If you scrim it, post pics please. :)
