Congratulations - I have a friend/client with small munsterlanders - I am supposed to get one and we may start doing tracks I think - it would really help with game recovery.

There's not a whole lot of animal there to cause much deformation. Even the bones would be easily penetrated, I would think, on a 38 pound deer. You are using a fairly stout load too.

I've never heard that, in GE, all harvested bucks must be shown. Do they have a big "deer show"? Sounds interesting. Could be fun.

We have deer shows(and turkey and waterfowl) here, but they are voluntary. You can bring a rack and get it scored for Boone & Crockett (or Pope & Young for bowhunters) and enter it in a contest if you want. Or just go to look. There are deer hunting seminars, vendor booths, demonstration booths, etc.

Congrats again! I can't wait to see the pics.

In GE the antler show is a must and ruled by law. Hunters who don't follow this duty can be punished.

Kirrmeister,

Ausgeseichnecht! Well done indeed! Roebuck are very small compared to the redstag, american elk or northern whitetail. They are smaller than even florida whitetail.

I have a few antique roebuck antlers on handcarved placques/shield in my collection. Alot of workmanship go into a good mount.

Kirrmeister, how do you find a handcarved placque/shield to mount your antlers? I would love to purchase a schild for my whitetail antlers from a buck I harvested a few years ago.

Good job!

Horrido!

Chris: Any shop that sells trophys either has in stock, or can make any kind of plaque you want for those antlers. The more ornate the carving, the higher the price, of course. They may have to order the wood and carving done out of house, but it can be had locally.
If you can't find such a shop, ask the coaches at the local schools, or sports teams where they get their trophys made, or purchased.

Excellent Kirrmeister, cannot wait to see the pics.
Very well done, and clearly you prepared very well.

Excellent! Now to make rondelles out of the tenderloin, a nice red wine---heaven! Congratulations, ron in FL.
