Afternoon everyone, I’m a long time reader who finally decided to join the forum. I’m using my first post as somewhat of a new member intro as well as a highlight of my”traditional” muzzle loading journey. Attached is a picture of my first buck taken with traditional equipment and with bullets I casted myself. I took this buck with my my T/C big boar shooting a hand cast 440gr Lee REAL bullet.

Just right for an 'eating' buck, I have never killed one much larger or with more fighting equipment. Here in Arkansas, people have done a job of breeding bigger antlers, etc., but having established a homestead here 30 years ago, I fed the family in the early lean years on animals like that, along with a huge garden. Welcome to the Forum!

what was the powder charge, and what thickness was the patch. a beauty, BON APPITITE!!

that is a nice buck! but i will remind you, you only "harvest" fruits, vegetables, trees, things like that. you kill animals!
Call it whatever you’d like, dead is dead! When you pull a carrot from the ground, thus “harvesting” it, are you not in turn “killing” it as well? Both terms seem quite synonymous to me. Hey different strokes for different folks.

no sir! Mr. patchbox. a "harvest" is "the process or period of gathering in crops" an animal is not "a crop" it just makes me a little ill at everyone trying to talk political correctness. we are men and we need to talk and act the part! or next thing you know we will not know who we are! no there no two ways to the middle, he killed the deer he did not harvest it!
